My mom and I gave Keira her first bath when she was 4 days old. It was quite scary since she seemed so fragile, I did not want to hold her while bathing her. Baka mahulog ko sya or mabuhusan ko ng tubig yung ears and nose nya. But with my mom’s coaching, I was able to give Keira her first bath. I was soaking wet but I was so happy I was able to do it.
As days went by, I learn more and more things about giving Keira a bath:
Lesson #1 Never give Keira a bath when she is hungry
She will be very uncooperative if you do give her a bath on an empty stomach. She will cry her lungs out…and believe me when she cries, it sounds like 10 babies crying all at the same time. She will kick and push with all of her strength. Namana nya sa akin ata yung lakas ng pag sipa at ang pagiging gutomin.
Solution ni Lolo Ting: Pasakan ng milk while bathing. Picture this, while I am handling her and giving her bath, my mom is also there assisting me (giving me soap, holding Keira’s hands and arms) and my dad holding her feeding bottle to her mouth. Grabe Keira, it takes 3 adults to give you a bath!
Lesson#2 After feeding Keira, wait at least an hour before giving her a bath
One time, after feeding Keira, she fell very sleepy. So we tried experimenting on giving her a bath during this time when she is so calm and half asleep. At first it was so easy…we thought we should have done this before…and then while I was holding her and washing her (Keira was positioned on my lap) she surprised us (me especially) when she let out a big fart which was followed by a lot of poopoo! I was literally covered with Keira’s poopoo…and wee wee! Siguro sabi ni Keira…Kala nyo maiisahan nyo ko no?
